The Artist
Dave Tuttle began the craft of taxidermy in 1977 at the age of 19.
Since 1984, Dave has been a full time, professional taxidermist and has over 65 major awards to his credit. From Best of Categories and Best of Shows, Dave's dedication to creating the best work possible has been repeatedly recognized.
Prior to opening River Run Taxidermy Studio, Dave spent 11 years at Tohickon Taxidermy in Ottsville, Pennsylvania where as a foreman he was responsible for the management of the shop.
Dave has studied with game heads with United States leading taxidermists Joe Coombs and Joe Meder. He has studied birds with Patrick Rummans from Lewiston, Montana. (Patrick is known for his Hollywood Animatronics and has done high visibility projects such as "Paulie the parrot" and the "Aflec Duck". Dave also previously worked for Holzinger Taxidermy in Linz, Austria.
Dave has created exhibits of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, the Philadelphia Academy of Sciences and the Iowa Science Center. He has created taxidermy props for movies, television commercials and a dead game deer mount for the H.B.O. series "The Sopranos". He has also done many mounts for wildlife artists to use as models.
Dave is also a certified taxidermy Judge and is asked to adjudicate competitions throughout the Northeast each year.
Dave enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge and training with students and offers individual instruction through the studio.
An avid outdoorsman, Dave's remains passionate for the wild. He is an active hunter as well as a falconer. Dave enjoys his time outdoors as well as sharing his knowledge with several school and community groups each year.
