Dave Tuttle is proud to offer individual taxidermy instruction. one-on-one courses are available to those who wish to learn the art of taxidermy. Courses are tailored to the students needs and times are flexible. Weekday, evening and weekend classes are available.
Students can provide their own specimens and antlers, or specimens such as deer capes, pheasants etc., can be purchased from River Run Taxidermy.
While all of our instruction can be tailored to individual needs or interests, most students choose from one of the following programs.
Intro to Game Heads
This course is set up so a student can mount a White Tail Deer head in one weekend as well as learn skinning techniques, finishing techniques and how to use reference photos.
Into to Birds
This courses designed so a student will skin and mount a standing bird on day one, and a flying bird on day two. In in addition to skinning and mounting techniques, the student will learn bird anatomy, reference interpretation and finishing techniques.
Dave suggests this course be completed over two, full, consecutive days.
Small Mammals
Learning on a small mammals such as a Fox or squirrel is great for the beginning taxidermist. This class require some advance planning as appropriate forms need to be ordered once the specimen is decided upon. Students will learn skinning techniques as well as exploring a variety of mounting positions and techniques.
All courses require preregistration. Course fees are based on the individual specimens, sizes, and required supplies and/or forms required for the specific mount.
